The Text Forwarding set up 'Shares' the SMS connection to the Mac.Įrgo it has to be working on the iPhone to work on the Mac. SMS can only be seen if the Phone is contracted and connected to the Carrier service for SMS. If you do mean SMS Texts because you set up Text Forwarding from the iPhone to the Mac then things would seem a little odd. However if you Signed Out of the Apple ID on the iPhone in Send and Receive then you will not get Apple ID addressed iMessages. Technically if you Linked them (The Apple ID is not Signed out on the iPhone) then the 'Sync' created by the Link should show them as a 'Sync copy' sent to the iPhone Number even if the Send And Receive Option is Off. Or the Apple ID is deselected and the iMessages you are seeing are addressed to the Apple ID. The iPhone Number should be ticked but greyed out. If you mean iMessages are only showing on the Mac - even ones addressed to the iPhone Number then it suggests you did link the two devices by adding the Apple ID to the settings for Messages on the iPhone but currently the iPhone is either not logged inįor that see Settings > Messages > Send and Receive
